Onion Pakoda

Onion Pakoda is a very popular Indian street food. It is also known as pyaaz ke pakode or kanda bhajji. It is basically an onion fritters. It can be served as tea time snacks. It goes well with green chutney or ketchup along with fried green chili

It is made by mixing onion, gram flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, carom seeds and salt. It is one of my favorite snacks. We offen make it at a home.

How To Make Onion Pakoda or Pakora?

Ingredients


Onion - 2 Medium Size
Gram Flour - 1 Cup
Carom Seeds - 1/2 Tsp
Red Chili Powder - 1 Tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4  Tsp
Salt - As Per Taste
Oil - For Deep Frying
Water - As Required

Instruction 


Chop onion as thin as possible and lengthwise. Now in a bowl add chopped onion, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder and asafoetida. Mix well.

Now add gram flour and carom seeds to the bowl. Mix well.

Add water little at a time and make a thick batter of it. Keep it aside for 10 min.

Heat a pan and add oil for deep frying . Once the oil is hot enough, drop a spoonful of batter to the pan. Fry on both the side till golden in color and crispy.

Now transfer it to tissue paper.

Repeat the same procedure with rest of the batter.

Your Onion Pakoda is ready to serve.

Serve it hot with green chutney or ketchup.
