Basundi

Basundi is a rich and creamy dessert. Traditionally it is prepared by boiling full fat milk till it reduces to half of the quantity of original amount and then adding sugar, cardamom powder and nuts and cooking it again for some time. This procedure takes a lot of time, almost 1-1/2 hours to 2 hours but its worth trying it.

Today I have made this dish using condensed milk as it takes less time. You can have this dish all alone or can also be paired with jalebi or puri. It is a perfect dessert for parties or festivals. It can be served hot or chilled, I prefer chilled one.

How To Make Basundi?

Basundi

Instruction

Boil Milk
Chop Nuts

Heat a wide and thick pan. Add milk and bring it to boil. Meanwhile chop all the nuts and keep aside.

Once boiled add condense milk and mix well. Cook on low flame and keep stirring often. Cook till milk starts thickening.

Scrape the side of pan and collect the milk solid and fold it back to milk.

Now add the cardamom and nuts to the milk and cook for 5 min more.
