Masala Chaas or Buttermilk is the best beverage to beat the summer. We normally have it after meal as it is good for digestion. In Tulu we call it Alley and in Kannada Majjige. It is served in almost every function after meal.
My dad used to love plain buttermilk mixed with very little pickle gravy. It is made with yogurt blended with chaat masala, cumin powder, ginger, black salt, green chili, coriander leaves, asafoetida and water. I love my buttermilk or chaas to be thin but you can adjust the water quantity as per your preference.
