Onion Paratha is a well-known North Indian dish. In paratha there are lots of variations like aloo paratha, gobi paratha, mooli paratha, paneer paratha, etc. It can be served as breakfast, lunch, dinner as well as for tiffin. This dish is quick and easy to make. It's a mouth-watering dish.
I got this recipe from one of my very good friend who was staying here in Mumbai in a PG. He was missing his home so much especially the homemade paratha. So I thought of making it for him. I asked him if he knows the recipe and he gave me the recipe. I tried it at home and trust me it was a very bad experience as while rolling the paratha the onion was leaving out water turning the dough sticky and tough to roll. But any how I made it. My friend was really happy to have a homemade paratha. Though it was not that good he still had it. It was then I tried to make it very often and after 5 to 6 attempt I finally learnt to make a perfect paratha. Thanks Rajeev for the recipe.
I made this dish yesterday for dinner as there was no one at my home except me and my sister-in-law. We were feeling very lazy to prepare a complete meal just for two of us. So we thought of making this dish as it's easy to make.
Ingredients
Wheat Flour - 1 and 1/2 Cup
Salt As Per Taste
Oil - 1 Tsp
Water - As Required
Ghee - As Required
For Stuffing
Onion - 1 Large
Green Chili - 1
Coriander Leaves - 1/4 Cup
Instruction
In a bowl add wheat flour, salt, oil and mix well. Now add water as required to make a soft dough. Once the dough is ready, pour 2 drops of oil to it and spread it all over the dough. Cover the dough and keep it aside for 15min.
In the meantime for stuffing; chop onion, green chili, coriander leaves. Mix it all together in one bowl and keep aside.
After 15 min make lemon size ball from the dough.
Dust the board with little wheat flour and roll 1 ball into 4 inch round shape.
Now add the stuffing mixture in center and join the edges together in center and press it down.
Now dust the ball and roll it out. Keep it slightly thick.
Now heat a tawa and put this rolled out paratha on it. When the bubbles start appearing flip it on other side. Now apply some ghee on it and flip it again. Apply ghee on the other side as well. Cook till you see brown spots on both the sides.
Transfer it to the a serving dish. Continue same procedure with the rest of dough balls.
Your Onion Paratha is ready to serve.
Serve Onion Paratha hot with pickle and curd.
