Rava Idli
South Indian food is recognized for its nutritious recipes and rava idli is among the easy recipe which mixes the amazing benefits of numerous dals and spices. It isn't just nutritious and irresistible but additionally quite simple to make as well.

It is certainly a well known South Indian dish which is easy to make at home. It doesn't need any prior prepration as soaking rice, grinding and fermenting such as the regular idli and could be made quickly.


It is soft and tasty dish. To make it soft and fluffy it is very important that the consistency of batter is perfect. If you are in short of idli batter you can try your hand on this dish. Some enjoy their idli by adding carrot or tomatoes but I like my idli to be plain.This is quite popular now throughout India.

Ingredients


Rava - 2 cup
Curd -1 Cup
Mustard Seed - 1/2 Tsp
Cumin Seed - 1/2 Tsp
Chana Dal - 1 Tsp
Urad Dal - 1 Tsp
Green Chili - 3
Curry Leave - 5 to 6
Coriander Leave - 1/4 Cup
Eno Salt or Baking Soda - 1 Tsp
Salt As Per Taste
Oil - 1 Tbsp
Water As required

Instructions


Tempering for Rava Idli
First chop green chili, curry leaves and coriander leaves. Then in a pan, heat oil in a low flame. Add mustard seed and cumin seed to the pan. When mustard starts spluttering add chana dal, and urad dal and cook till it turns slightly brown. Now add green chili, curry leaves and coriander leaves to the pan.  

In the mean time lets add water to idli steamer and pre-heat the water.
Add Rava To Tempering

Add rava to the pan and mix well. Cook till it turn light brown and remove it in a bowl.
Rava Idli Batter

Now add curd and salt to the rava mixture and mix well. Add water to the rava and make a dropping like batter. The consistency of batter should not be very thin nor very thick. Its time to add eno salt in the batter and mix it.
Pour Batter in Idli Mould

Now grease idli mould and pour the batter into it. And steam it for 25mins. Insert a knife or tooth pick in the idli to check if it is cooked. If the knife or tooth pick comes out clean then its done.
Serve Rava Idli With Chutney

Rava Idli is ready to serve.

Serve hot idli with chutney or sambar.
