Malai Chum Chum

Malai Sandwich is a popular Bengali dessert. It is well-known all over India. It is made from paneer, sugar syrup and mawa.

Considering the number of festivals in row. I thought of writing about this recipe well ahead of time in order that you can consider preparing them for your family, friends and relatives.

So lets begin...

Ingredient


Milk - 1 Ltr
Vinegar or Lemon Juice - 2 Tsp
Sugar - 2 Cup
Water - 4 Cup
Cardomom Powder - 1 Tsp

Ingredient For Stuffing


Mawa - 100 Gms
Confectioners Sugar As Per Taste


Instruction

Boil Milk

To prepare paneer, heat a pan, add milk and bring it to boil. Now switch off the stove and add vinegar or lemon juice to the milk and let it curdle. Keep stirring.
Curdle Milk

Now strain the curdled milk in a strainer, muslin cloth or cheese cloth. Now add cold water to it and rinse it well.  Squeeze it to remove any access water. Paneer is ready.

Now transfer it in a plate and knead it well with your palm and make a soft dough of it.

Knead Paneer

Make 7 to 8 flattened balls or oval shape balls from the dough.
Paneer Ball

In a large sauce pan, boil water and sugar till the sugar gets dissolved. Now add cardamom powder to boiled water and then add paneer balls to it. Cover the lid and boil for 20 to 25 mins. Let it cool down.

Once cool, remove the paneer balls in a plate and keep aside.
Transfer Paneer Ball to Plate

For stuffing, mix mawa and confectioners sugar in a bowl. Make a fine paste out of it.

Now cut the paneer balls from the center and fill the stuffing mixture in it.

Fill the Mawa Mixture
 Garnish with almond, pistachio or sliver vark.

Your Malai Sandwich is ready to serve.
