Vada Pav
Vada Pav is a very popular street food of Mumbai. Its an Indian style burger. You will find vada pav stall at every corner of mumbai. It is very much preferred by school and college students.

It is made from potatoes, gram flour and spices. You can have it with green chutney and garlic chutney.
This is my nieces favorite dish and I have made this for her. It's spicy and very tasty dish.

You can make this for birthday parties or any small party at home. You can have it for breakfast or as a tea time snacks.

Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 500 Gms
  • Gram Flour - 250 Gms
  • Garlic - 12 Cloves
  • Ginger - 1 Inch
  • Green Chili - 4
  • Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Tsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Tsp
  • Curry Leaves - 7
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tsp (1/4 Tsp For Potatoes And 1/4 Tsp For Gram flour Batter)
  • Coriander Leaves - 1/4 Cup
  • Oil For Deep Frying And 1 Tbsp For Tempering
  • Salt As Required 

Instructions

Boiled Potatoes
First boil potatoes in a pressure cooker till 5 whistle. When boiled remove it from pressure cooker and let it cool down. Now peel the skin of potatoes and mash it with potatoes masher or with hands. Keep it aside.
Add Mustard Seeds And Cumin Seeds
Now in a pan heat 1 tbsp on oil. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let it splutter. 
Add Garlic Ginger Green Chili and Curry Leaves
Now add garlic, ginger, curry leaves, chopped green chili and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder. Cook for 1 min.
Add Mashed Potatoes Tumeric And Salt
Add mashed potatoes, coriander leaves, salt and mix well. Cook for 2 min more. Switch off the stove and let it cool down.
Potato Balls
Once it is cool make round shaped balls from the mashed potatoes and slightly press it in between your palms. And keep it aside.
 Gram Flour Batter
Now in a bowl add gram flour, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and salt. Now add water, little at a time and a batter of it.. The consistency of batter should be thicker than dosa batter.
Oil For Deep Frying
Deep Fry Batata Vada
Now in a deep pan heat oil for deep frying. Dip the potato balls in gram flour batter and deep fry it in the oil. Cook on a low flame till the outer cover is cooked well and turns golden in color.

Remove it in a plate. Continue the same procedure with rest of the potato balls.

Your Vada Pav is ready to serve.

Serve Vada with Pav, green chutney and garlic chutney.
