Kappa Rotti

Kappa Rotti is a Mangalorean dish. It is made from rice and coconut. It's a kind of dosa that has crispy edges and soft and thicker in the centre. It is made in a deep earthen tawa.

Like Neer Dosa, Rava Dosa and Rava Idli this is also very common at our house. It is very tasty dish. You can have it with chutney, chicken curry or just apply little ghee (clarified butter) on the top of it and enjoy the dish.

Ingredient

Rice - 500gm
Grated Coconut - 1 Cup
Boiled Rice - 1 Cup
Salt As Per Taste

Instruction

Wash and soak rice in water for 3 to 4 hours. Then put soaked rice, grated coconut, boiled rice in grinder and grind to make smooth thick batter. The consistency of batter should be little thicker than dosa batter. Remove it in a bowl and add salt to it and mix. Cover the batter with a lid and keep it in a warm place for overnight or atleast 4 to 5 hours .

Now heat the earthen tawa or any deep tawa and pour 1 tsp of oil on it. With the help of ladle pour one full ladle of batter on tawa. Don't spread it with ladle. Let it spread on its own.

Now cover the lid and let it cook. It should be cooked only from one side. Remove it with spatula.

Your Kappa Rotti is ready to eat.

Serve hot with chutney, chicken curry or ghee.
